scary–by-scary is a pop up interactive series of events hosted at Nimmos, Galway.

This installation will take place over 14 days & nights introducing an smorgasbord of art, performance, photography, fashion, design, music, food and parties dedicated to scary. The scary-by-scary title is a tongue in cheek play on the Marc-by-Marc Jacobs fashion line. The show involves an eclectic crew of internationally sourced artists, designers and musicians making new work inspired by a personality known as scary.

Brooklyn meets Berlin in a stylized homage to the world of scary.

Introducing the first of what potential could be many... A colourful night of surprises and madness in Ard Bia at Nimmos where the hot hot staff will be styled to the nines (make up by Smasha Kelly) and will spoil the fuck out of you - There will be fine wines and high food, there will be prosecco, there will be buckfast jellies, there will be dancing, there will be glasses broken, there could well be illegals and there most definitely will be a major buzz.

Nimmos chef Niamh Fox will be creating a special atmosphere fused menu - food that is high energy and visually stimulating. With propaaa tunes from Mike Smalle, Cane 141 and Cyril Briscoe, 110th St. our DJs on the night.

Bios.

Cian McConn.
Cian McConn is a visual artist who makes collage, photographs and performance pieces with others. Completed BA in fine art at the Crawford College, Cork. He has shown internationally has been based in New York for the last 4 years but currently lives and works in Ireland and will move to London in September to undertake his Masters at the Royal College of Art.

Aki Goto.
Aki Goto is an artist and fashion designer from Tokyo, Japan lvining and works in New York City. She has collaborated with Susan Cianciolo, Cosmic Wonder and the Uniform Project. She has also exhibited internationally in group and solo shows most recently "Love You More Than Painting", Take Ninagawa, Tokyo and "Sustainable Exchange", TODA design studio, NYC.

Emma Allen.
Emma manages the vintage department of a textile recycling company. Massive amounts of used clothing and textiles are purchased in bulk by the company, and then sorted by a factory of 85 employees. Anything vintage, designer, amazing or kind of interesting is sent to the vintage department, where Emma and the staff of the department decide what to keep and where to send it. Emma puts together orders for vintage stores and designers all over the world. This is what Emma curated from the heaps for the scary collection.

MoMS
MoMS are an artist collective from Reykjavík, Iceland headed up by artists Frikki, Schyluer and the artist/designer Mundi. They have exhibited internationally at events such as Frieze, London, ARTISIT? Ireland and the Venice Biennale. They often collaborate with Austria's Gelitin and have exhibited many solo shows in their home country Iceland.

Mary Nally.
Mary Nally is an independent curator. She is the Artistic Director and co-founder of ARTISIT?, a series of events with the specific intention of providing a platform for cutting-edge emerging artists to break into the art scene. Mary has curated shows and events in Ireland, New York, Glasgow and will launch ARTISIT? + in London this September. Outside of the art world she sources designers and talent for the renowned fashion philanthropy project The Uniform Project, runs an underground club monthlyish and splits her time between New York and the west of Ireland, checking into London, Paris, Berlin and Reykjavik every other odd weekend. Mary Nally is scary.
